What a meeting this turned out to be! Due to last minute changes, our regular venue, the “attic’ was not available. Trust our resourceful members mainly Ranjit, Muhendaran and Mary to arrange an alternative venue rather than canceling the meeting. A word of appreciation to Muhendaran who graciously offered his office as the alternate venue.

In spite of the change, although initially only few members appeared to have turned up, the room was packed to overflowing by the time the meeting started – a true testament of the commitment of the members and guests.

SAA Maureen CC started the ball rolling by calling the meeting to order and led us in reciting the Toastmaster’s Promise.

Our President, Mary Barton ATMB, CL then took control of the meeting and led the introduction session, welcoming the guests and members.

Maureen CC certainly challenged us in the Table Topics session with a very current topic, namely the Olympics. The speakers were to speak on a sport that they had picked at random.

Huegesh picked the sport of Gymnastics and trust him to somehow relate it to Yoga. Muhendaran DTM eloquently narrated the merits of Swimming. Our guest, Jeff, was equally up to task and had us in stitches describing Fencing as a “poking” sport. Renu entertained us with her imagination by totally changing our perception of Archery. Not to be outdone, Uma narrated her experiences in Badminton and how she managed to teach her nephews and nieces a thing or two about her killer smashes.

Ranjit ATMB had us laughing our hearts out in the humour session, even with his “milder” jokes.

After the break, the assignment speakers delivered their speeches. Both assignment speakers were very polished with their respective presentations.

The General Evaluator, Arvind Sriram CTM, CL with his able team of evaluators and role players did an excellent job of providing feedback with regards to the overall running of the meeting as well as zooming in to specific areas with helpful recommendations.

The evening concluded with Uma, our budding Olympic representative winning the award as the BEST Table Topics Speaker.

There were no Table Topics held since we had 6 speakers for the evening, thanks to our VPE's enthusiasm and benevolence in providing interested members an opportunity to speak.

Aisalli, the first speaker, had a captivating title to her speech which managed to maintain the audience's interest in her speech. Her body language and eye contact was excellent.

Renu, the second speaker, spoke about real estate and provided us with useful tips on which properties to invest in. Her voice was soothing and she looked really relaxed.

Lim Mooi Kheng, the third speaker talked about the admiration she had for her father and she overwhelmed the audience by showing us the lantern her father had made from a Carlsberg can. She talked with utmost sincerity and conviction about her father.

Muhendaran, the fourth speaker, talked about what constituted sexual harassment . I was very eager to hear him give us ways on how to resolve the issue of sexual harassment.

The fifth speaker, Ranjit Singh, with his speech entitled "What do men really want?", was packed with humour.

Michelle, the sixth speaker, gave us tips of Fuel.

The evaluation session was very interesting and the evaluators were all inspiring and encouraging, specially with new speakers.

The GE, Lucky, ATMB, was as usual his lively self. He conducted the evaluation session with vigour and vitality, not only enthralled the audience with his wit and charisma but also managed to pack some humour into his general evaluation session.

The meeting went on quite well except for the faux paux of the Toastmaster of the Evening.

The Best Speaker Award went to Ranjit Singh, ACB, and
Best Evaluators were Chandran, CC and Muhendaran, DTM
